Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Handbill when you use the website and the emails we send. They're written to be read.

Last updated: [FOUNDER: date of approval]. "Handbill", "we" and "us" mean [FOUNDER: legal name of the person or company responsible for this service and its postal address].

What Handbill does

You tell us which musicians and comedians you follow and where you live or travel. We watch public event listings and email you when we find a show that matches. Handbill is an early, invite-only service, and it may change or stop.

Who can use it

You must be 16 or older and live in the United States. You need a working email address, and you're responsible for keeping access to it, since that is how you sign in.

Alerts are best effort

We work hard to be right, but we can't promise that we'll find every show, that we'll tell you in time, or that every detail we send (date, venue, city, price, on-sale time) is correct. Shows get added, moved and cancelled after we look. Always check the details with the venue or ticket seller before you buy tickets or make travel plans. Please tell us when we get something wrong; that's how we get better.

Tickets are sold by others

We don't sell tickets. Ticket links take you to independent sellers such as Ticketmaster, the venue, or another ticketing site. Your purchase is between you and that seller, on their terms, prices and refund rules. We aren't responsible for their sites, their prices, or whether a show goes ahead. [FOUNDER: state here if Handbill ever earns a commission on ticket links.]

Acceptable use

Please don't:

Your content

When you ask us to add a performer, or send us a link or a correction, you let us use it to run and improve Handbill. Your follows and trips stay private to your account.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk, and we may end the service for everyone with notice by email. [FOUNDER: set the notice period for ending the service.]

No warranty and limits on liability

Handbill is provided "as is" and "as available". Neither we nor our data providers, including SeatGeek, make warranties of any kind about it or the event information it shows, including that it will be complete, accurate, timely or uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, neither we nor our data providers, including SeatGeek, are liable for missed shows, tickets, travel or other costs that follow from an alert we sent, sent late, or didn't send. [FOUNDER: have counsel supply the liability cap and the exact disclaimer wording.]

Our data providers

Some of the event information on Handbill comes from SeatGeek. SeatGeek, Inc. and its affiliates are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, which means they can enforce them against you directly. [FOUNDER: confirm the SeatGeek third-party-beneficiary and disclaimer wording with counsel.]

Privacy

How we handle your information is in our Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [FOUNDER: state], and disputes go to the courts of [FOUNDER: county and state], except where the law where you live says otherwise. [FOUNDER: have counsel confirm; decide whether to add an arbitration clause.]

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email you before the change takes effect. Using Handbill after that means you accept the new terms. [FOUNDER: confirm the notice period.]
